B3.3 Series

B Series

Cummins B3.9, B4.5 and B5.9 put less noise in the air as well. That’s especially important for applications like mobile generators and rental light packages, which are commonly used where businesses or residences are directly affected. And it certainly helps to reduce decibel exposure levels for workers. For even quieter operation, Cummins offers optional noise-reduction packages that eliminate up to 4.5 dBA of acoustic output.

Whether you need a low-horsepower engine with a flat torque curve or a little more horsepower with a sharp torque rise, you’ll find it in a Cummins B Series. These engines feature highly reliable, durable rotary fuel pumps that deliver a steady stream of pressurized fuel for strong performance across a wide range of environmental conditions.

Cummins B3.9, B4.5 and B5.9 have been designed for reduced maintenance, with plateau-honed cylinders, an innovative ring pack design and edge-molded gaskets for significantly reduced oil consumption. With Cummins B Series, little or no top-off oil should be needed. And oil change intervals can be extended up to 500 hours.

C Series

When the C Series was introduced almost two decades ago, it redefined what a diesel should be, with 40% fewer parts for greater reliability and durability.

Since then, we’ve continuously improved its performance. The fuel pump has increased injection pressures, resulting in more complete combustion for stronger performance with reduced emissions.

Today, over 750,000 C Series engines are hard at work around the globe, handling the roughest jobs under the worst operating conditions. Proven acceptance for a proven performer.

The more completely fuel gets burned inside the power cylinder, the more power you get on every stroke. And fewer emissions. The C8.3 has an in-line fuel pump that increases injections pressures, optimizing the spray pattern and increasing the "burn." So you get greater horsepower with higher torque output from less fuel.

The clean-burning C8.3 also meets emissions standards anywhere in the world. And it’s possible to run it in the most remote locations, because the in-line fuel pump makes it possible for the C8.3 to run on Jet-A fuel or kerosene as well as diesel fuel.

QSB Series

The 24-valve version of the 6-cylinder QSB has earned its reputation as a powerful performer in the most demanding equipment applications. But not everyone needs all that extra muscle. So we’ve developed a 12-valve version of the same engine, complete with all the same electronic features, as an economical alternative.

We then applied the same Quantum technology to our 4-cylinder versions of this engine (110 to 130 horsepower / 82 to 97 kW).

Full-Authority Electronics. The QSB’s full-authority electronics mean more precise control over the performance of the engine. And our Electronic Control Module is totally programmable, so you can specify performance parameters to exactly match your equipment.

QSC Series

The QSC from Cummins with advanced electronics, higher torque, better throttle response, shorter service times, longer maintenance intervals, increased fuel economy, up to 50% less noise, diagnostics, engine protection and more. All wrapped up in something we call the Quantum System.

The QSC is built to withstand the toughest work environment. The bearings have a large surface area to handle higher loads with greater durability. The exhaust manifold allows for heat expansion and contraction, eliminating metal stress fractures. Reduced friction in the power cylinder means longer life and increased power output. From the structurally reinforced block to the stiffened gear housing, the QSC is built stronger to last longer.

The QSC does the work of a 10-liter engine, with up to 340 horsepower (254 kW) and 1050 lb-ft of peak torque (1424 Nm) in certain applications. Low-speed torque is up 20% to 500 lb-ft (678Nm). And it’s available with a front-mount accessory drive or Rear Engine Power Take-Off (REPTO).

QSC Series

QSL Series

Having enough horsepower is important, but what’s really critical in your equipment is having the pulling power you need – when you need it. That’s why the QSL comes with a torque rise of up to 50% and 1150 lb-ft of peak torque. Whether you are faced with a field of hardpan or a forest of hardwood, the QSL makes short work of it.

The combination of 24 valves for better "breathing," a patented high-pressure common rail system with centered fuel injectors and a Holset wastegated trubocharger give the QSL responsive power across the engine speed range.

Tough As Georgia Clay. You’re in business for the long run. You need an engine that’s built to last just as long. That’s why we gave the QSL two-piece articulated steel pistons with targeted piston cooling. Heavy-duty roller followers. A high-capacity lubrication system. All housed within a structurally reinforced block so rugged it can easily handle the added pressure of a compression brake.

QSL Series

QSM

The QSM uses advanced electronic controls to meet the toughest standards without compromising anything. Exceptional fuel efficiency, durability, dependability and the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class are still trademark QSM qualities. Plus, the QSM now runs quieter and cleaner.

The QSM engine comes with the same powerful Electronic Control Module (ECM) as our larger QSX and QSK engines. Using input from sensors located throughout the engine, it governs the timing and metering of fuel to the engine. Fuel is injected into the power cylinder using Cummins dual-pulse technology. This injection method helps reduce noise levels as it increases responsiveness and improves fuel efficiency.

Reaping The Rewards Of High Technology. The onboard electronics of the Quantum System give equipment operators greater control over operating speeds, gear selection and more. Including the ability to switch to an alternate power curve, adjust the low idle and reset intermediate speed governors to match job site needs. Plus, the ECM can be mounted in two different locations on the engine, for easy equipment integration.

QSX

The QSX is the first diesel of the 21st century, with totally integrated electronics that link engine and equipment performance like never before. Not only does the QSX meet Tier 2 emissions, it will meet proposed Tier 3 requirements with just minor modifications. Taking equipment manufacturers past 2010.

The Advantage Of Dual Overhead Cams. The first cam drives the high-pressure fuel injection system, capable of pressures up to 30,000 psi. Higher injection pressure means greater combustion efficiency. So your customers get more power with fewer emissions.

The second cam operates the intake and exhaust valves, plus it has a set of lobes dedicated to the operation of an integrated engine brake, called the Intebrake ™, which adds extra braking capacity while reducing service brake wear and extending maintenance intervals.

QSK19

The QSK19 is a powerful example of Cummins Quantum System technology at work, with state-of-the-art electronics capable of self-diagnostics, prognostics and more. The latest version of this proven performer takes technology to the next level, meeting Tier 2 emissions standards without compromise. Fuel economy, horsepower, torque rise, transient response and service intervals match the high levels achieved by Tier 1 models of the QSK19. It’s an engine that goes beyond meeting government standards to meet the toughest standards of all…the performance demands of your customers.

The QSK19’s high-pressure injection system and electronic controls ensure clean, powerful and efficient operation. The ECM continuously monitors data from strategically placed sensors within the engine, optimizing the fuel-to-air mixture for maximum combustion. Fuel is injected at pressures exceeding 25,000 psi. This results in better utilization of fuel with fewer emissions. Getting more energy out of every drop of diesel fuel also results in more power.

The innovative QSK19 is designed for maximum utilization with minimum maintenance, for example, the articulated pistons. Not only will they last 30% longer, until the first rebuild, but your customers will also get an additional 30% longer life after the first rebuild.

The lubrication system and monitoring program give standard scheduled oil and filter changes at 250 hours. Even the oil seals have been engineered so they are never exposed to contaminants. The result is virtually leak-free operation.

QSK23

The QSK23 delivers the power you need and the low operational costs that today’s business climate demands. It combines the high-tech electronic features of all of our QSK engines with the proven power cylinder design of our QST30 and QSK78 engines, for superior reliability and durability.

Smart torque across the rpm range gives haul trucks the power to pull away from the shovel fast and maintain speed on the uphill climb out of a pit. A high-pressure injection (HPI) system injects fuel at 29,000 psi for the best fuel economy of any engine in its class, while maintaining low emissions. The QSK23 meets current EPA and European standards for all horsepower ratings today and will be developed for Tier III with minimal installation impact.

The QSK23 shares electronic components with all of our other QSK engines, from 19-78 liters in size. Sensors located throughout the engine and equipment subsystems constantly send a stream of information to the ECM, so the air/fuel mixture is always optimized to the operating conditions. The HPI system is so sophisticated that it adjusts to fuel quality.

The QSK23 is based on an engine platform that’s been proven in industrial applications for over 20 years. The block is one-piece cast iron, with wide cylinder spacing for long life and excellent rebuildability. Both the liner and the piston are made of ferrous cast ductile iron, for even expansion and contraction during thermal cycles. The head has a new seven-bolt design to handle cylinder and injection pressures reaching 29,000 psi. From the robust (105mm) camshaft to the ceramic top ring on the piston to an oil pump with 15% more capacity than in previous years, every part is designed for maximum lift.
