The Cummins ISX is certified and compliant to the EPA’s 2.5-gram emissions standard, ahead of schedule. The ISX was the first engine certified by the EPA to meet this new standard. The ISX uses cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to reduce emissions, without sacrificing customers’ needs for performance, reliability, and fuel economy.

Performance. Cummins unique dual overhead cam design delivers high performance, low emissions and exceptional braking. The first cam drives high-pressure fuel injection for clean, responsive power. The second cam includes a dedicated set of lobes for the operation of the integrated engine brake, in addition to operating the intake and exhaust valves. High-pressure fuel injection gives the ISX cleaner, more complete combustion. Variable Geometry Turbocharging produces quicker throttle response with less turbo "lag" for faster acceleration off the line and on highway on-ramps. Infinite adjustment provides the exact amount of boost needed at any engine speed.

Cummins ISL is the ideal choice for a broad range of trucks from regional LTL carriers with daycabs, to dump trucks, refuse haulers and mixers. Its performance coupled with weight savings yield a package that is unbeatable. A new High Pressure Commons Rail (HPCR) fuel system combined with a patented Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VG Turbo) by Holset delivers outstanding performance. The ISL has the highest torque offering in its class, yet it has a lighter installed weight than competitive engines.

Performance To Get Down The Road.

When it comes to power, performance and operating efficiencies, the ISL has it all. Its HPCR fuel system maintains high injection pressures regardless of engine speed for outstanding performance. The VG Turbo increases both acceleration performance and stopping power when used in conjunction with the optional compression brake. Since the ISL is among the leaders in low-weight and high HP, its power-to-weight ratio is exceptional. This means an ISL powered vehicle can carry more payload with the performance of traditional 10 & 11 liter engines. And, the ISL offers 1250 lb-ft of torque, more than any engine in its class!
